The intention of this paper is to analyze the students writing generic structure in addition to the types of error made students in first grade at Taichung Municipal Taichung Home Economics and Commercial High School in writing recount text. For the result this paper use a qualitative method. The class that consist of 32 students and the the researcher took 20 student’s worksheet as sample. The written test is used to get the data about the generic structure in addition to the types of error explained by Dulay. The researcher uses the documentation method to obtain the school data like students’ name and class. Data were analyzed to find students' mistakes in writing Recount texts and generic structures. The researcher found 20 students wrote all the Orientation, 20 students wrote all the events, 3 students did not write the reorientation. Based on the result of the analysis and the classification students writing in errors into their types, it was conclude that they did 20 errors in omission, 9 errors in addition, 45 errors in misformation, and 4 errrors in misordering. Finally the researcher concludes the generic structure done by the students was very good and the most dominant error done by the students was misformation error.
