    Abstract: Objection This thesis makes use of longitudinal survey data to find out the demographic and life-style factors affecting body weight change of the elderly in Taiwan.
    Methods This research used representative panel survey 1999 and 2003 date collected in the two waves of ?The Longitudinal Sample Survey of Health and Living Status of the Elderly in Taiwan? by the predecessor organization of the Bureau of Health Promotion, Department of Health. After comparing with 1999 and 2003 data, get the changes of all variables between two years and the body weight change distribution. It is using(Second survey body weight minus First survey body weight) divided First survey body weight)?100%. The variables exist between 1999 to 2003 of body weights changes the examination (Including T test and ANOVA). Make the X? examination variable the background and the living condition .Finally, stepwise-regression and The force enters-regression were used to do multivariate analysis of the Influence factors of weight change.
    Results It shows the changes of disability, In the past in a year once was hospitalized, depression condition, and social support status are the Influence factors affecting weight change of the age 65 and older in Taiwan. The whole explains elderly person the body weight change amount of variation only then 2.5%, adjusts the latter R square to express that still had 1.6% explanation strength (F=2.775?p=0.001).And was hospitalized by past one year to 65 years old above old person the body weight change has the biggest influence (standardized coefficient - 0.072), next to disability in order can, the social support status and depression condition
    Conclusion The body weight change process in elderly person is extremely complex, usually is occurs by multiple factors constitutes, this research will be initially searches, because is restricted in the material origin to belong to the secondary material, is unable truly to bring into line with the elderly person body weight change related variable the analysis, but had an preliminary understanding.
