    Abstract: This research is how to implement a property security system by using RFID technology. After implementing this system, users carrying just one ID card are able to pass security gates with conveniently and promptly.
    Since year 2003, RFID has been enlisted into top ten significant innovations in twenty-first century. It not only improves industrial technology in history, but also changes human’s consuming behavior in the market. In year 2004, Wal-Mart, the American largest retailer department store, required its top hundred suppliers to introduce RFID into shopping system. By doing so, Wal-Mark is able to reduce work time of warehouse and improve efficiency of merchandise management. Even though many people are not familiar with RFID technology, it has been used on more and more applications in our daily life. Currently, Easy Card of Taipei Matro transportation is well known RFID application in Taiwan. According to Institute for Information Industry’s research, the total revenue of RFID was 2.2 billion dollars in year 2005. It will become 4 billion dollars in year 2007. It is possible that this technology will create 15 to 25 billion dollars amazing market share in year 2015.
    Hence, the future of RFID is unlimited and eventually it will become part of our life.
    In today’s society, the need for security has become an important issue for most people. Everybody wishes to have the most advance technologies to monitor and protect his/her properties. However, these high tech security instruments always cost a fortune. Only business enterprises and government agencies are able to afford these high tech devices. Therefore, most business companies and residential communities still use traditional locksets to guard their properties. People have to carry keys and memorize combinations everyday. This is really inconvenient because people might lose keys or forget passwords somehow. According to National Police Agency of Taiwan, a house break-in occurs every two minutes. How to maintain safety of property has become a serious issue. My goal is to develop a safer and convenient security mechanism to replace the traditional security systems.
    The advantages of RFID technology include large data storing capability, high reliability, high-speed inventorying, and…etc. I will design a RFID security system by using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 and SQL Server. When a person walks in the restrictive area, the reader will capture ID card’s information right away. After the
    host computer identifies the information, the person will be granted to pass the security gate. By using my design, people are able to pass security gates promptly.
