    Abstract: In 1996, Nyberg and Rueppel designed new identity-based public key systems based on message recovery signature schemes. These schemes satisfy the property that the public key with respect to a registered user can be recovered from the correct combination of the user’s name and identity-based certificate. In this paper, however,the authors pointed out that Nyberg and Rueppel’s identity-based public key systems are vulnerable to the impersonation attack. Furthermore, we proposed improvements to eliminate this security leak.
