    Title: 利用自由軟體設計網際網路語音服務之多媒體網頁式電話與帳務系統

    Abstract: 網際網路語音(Voice over IP,VoIP)服務挾著低通話成本的優勢,快速提
    升了在市場的佔有率。VoIP 服務成長如此迅速主要是因為它能降低服務平台與
    客戶通話的成本。另外,VoIP 技術亦刺激網路服務業者提供新的多媒體服務,
    擴大服務市場,以增進收益。
    在網際網路語音服務的用戶端方面,用戶可透過三種方式來使用網際網路語
    音服務:硬體式 IP 電話(Hard Phone)、軟體式 IP 電話(Soft Phone)和網頁
    式電話(Web-based Phone)。硬體式 IP 電話的使用方式與一般人使用有線電話
    的習慣接近,但購置成本較高。軟體式 IP 電話的授權費仍然偏高,且由於軟體
    本身功能的限制,往往無法提供企業所需的進階服務。至於網頁式電話,用戶則
    可以在任何地方,利用方便、免費的瀏覽器來撥打網際網路電話,無須受限於特
    定的軟體。
    目前我們已在電信國家型計畫的 NTP 測試平台上,建置以SIP 協定為主的
    VoIP 系統,並開發出網頁式電話基本雛型,提供用戶一對一的語音、視訊、即
    時訊息等基本功能。本計劃未來將利用開放式軟體,擴充原先一對一的多媒體網
    頁式電話服務,進一步開發 VoIP 網路上之進階網頁式電話服務(如:會議電
    話)。另外,我們亦將嘗試開發新的網頁式電話功能(例如:視訊側錄、電話回
    撥、白板、檔案傳遞等),提供使用者更實用的功能。
    計費系統雖然不是網路的核心部分,但往往是決定通訊服務是否能成功的關
    鍵。目前我們已在電信國家型計畫所提供之 NTP 測試平台上,建立整合後付式
    服務與預付式服務之計費系統。未來,我們將把網頁式電話服務加入計費系統之
    中。另外,在此系統平台的AAA 伺服器中,我們使用 Radius 協定。Radius 特
    性包含單向認證、UDP 封包傳輸、簡單的丟棄封包機制、缺乏重傳相關的規定
    和集中式計費服務等。而Diameter 是新一代的 AAA 機制,它改善了 Radius 的
    缺點。因此,本計畫將嘗試用 Diameter 來取代目前建置的 Radius 協定,以利
    與無線網路整合,提供無線網際網路電話服務。
    最後,本計畫期許藉由此一架構和機制,能作為其他校院或小型企業建置整
    合式網際網路電話服務之參考,為學術界和業界作出有力之貢獻。
    With the advantage of low communication cost, the VoIP market has expandedtremendously in a very short time. The reasons for fast expansion are that the VoIPtechnology reduces the cost of communication and of the platform. In addition, it
    stimulates the service operator to provide new multimedia services to expand their market.
    From the user point of view, the subscriber has three ways to access the VoIP services:the hard phone, the soft phone and the web-based phone. The usage of hard phone issimilar to the ways we use the wire-lined phone. However, the cost of a hard phone is toohigh. The second method for accessing VoIP services is to use the soft phone. Theauthorization fee of soft phone is less than the cost of a hard phone. However, it is still toohigh for regular users. Besides, the software usually cannot be modified to meet thevarying needs of the enterprise. For the web-based phone, a subscriber can easily use thefree browser to access the VoIP services without restrictions from specific software.
    With the NTP project, we had set up a VoIP platform with freeware based on the SIPprotocol. A prototype for web-based phone was also developed to provide one-to-one voice,video and instant message (IM) services. In this project, we propose to extend these basic multimedia call functions with freeware to provide advanced web phone services (e.g., web conference). In addition, we will try to explore new web phone services (e.g., video
    recording, callback, white-board, file transfer) which are more feasible to the subscribers.
    Although the billing system does not locate at the kernel of the network, it is usuallythe key factor to decide whether the communication service will succeed. We had established a billing system that integrates the post-paid service and prepaid service on the NTP platform. In this project, we will integrate the web phone service into the design of billing system. Furthermore, Radius was used as our AAA protocol. The disadvantages of
    Radius protocol include one-way authentication, UDP packet transmission, simple packet-discarding mechanism, no retransmission and centric billing mechanism. Diameter
    is a new generation of AAA protocol. It reforms the Radius protocol. Hence, we will try to replace it with the Diameter protocol in order to integrate the VoIP network with WLAN providing wireless VoIP services.
    We expect our VoIP service model and architecture can be a useful reference for anyuniversity or any enterprise that is interested to build an integrated VoIP network. By sharing the source codes for free, we hope that this project will make a contribution to the academic community.
